Albertan Independents & The Yankee Turncoats: The morning after Alberta's reality Check.

"Big hat no cattle”, the conversation at kitchen tables all across Canada this morning. The loudest internet echo chamber in Canadian history just collided with the brutal arithmetic of reality. Over seventy six percent of Albertans marched to the ballot box and firmly voted to remain in Canada.

Ants here, let us get the coffee on the go and talk about the absolute comedy playing out online this morning. For years, the digital airwaves were completely hijacked by Alberta nationals and keyboard cowboys screaming for a breakaway republic. They guaranteed that a massive silent majority was ready to burn the whole country down. Well, the silent majority finally spoke, and they completely flattened the separatist fantasy into dust.

The immediate panic from the losing side has been nothing short of spectacular to watch. The exact same online activists who spent the last several years demanding a hard exit are now frantically rewriting their own history. I spent the morning watching them furiously type out excuses, claiming they never actually wanted to leave and only wanted constitutional reform. It is the political equivalent of tripping over your own feet and telling everyone you just wanted to inspect the pavement. You cannot spend years threatening to burn the house down and then claim you just wanted to remodel the kitchen.

Let us get very real about the most embarrassing faction in this entire circus, never mind the audacity of the “this country's not good enough for us” Alberta separatists, and the Yankee Doodle sycophant. These are the supposed patriotic rebels who were waving American flags and literally begging to become the fifty first state. They painted themselves as freedom loving heroes standing up to Ottawa. In reality, they are a fifth column perfectly willing to sell out Canadian sovereignty without a second thought. They wanted to trade away our public healthcare, our pristine water rights, and our Crown treaty lands just to bow to Washington? Never in your lifetime “Uncle Sam”, not now, not ever! Sovereignty is a dish best served among Canadians! So again to reiterate, the odds of probability in that becoming a reality, were the exact same as a one legged cat trying to bury turd, on a frozen “lake Ontario”

They are nothing more than keyboard cowboys lost in a bizarre American cosplay fantasy. It is genuinely pathetic to watch people who claim to love their province eager to surrender it to foreign oil interests. They were ready to hand over the keys to our energy sector and let American corporations charge us interstate transit fees on our own soil. You cannot call yourself a proud, independent citizen while you are simultaneously on your knees begging to be absorbed by a foreign power. That is not patriotism, that is a complete capitulation of your identity and your future.

For months leading up to this vote, I had a standing challenge out there for the loudest voices in the separatist camp. I asked them to name one living person with superior economic qualifications to Prime Minister Mark Carney to run the economy of a brand new country. You and I both know the response I got. Out of hundreds of loud, angry comments, not a single one could provide a credible, qualified name to take the wheel. They completely deflected the challenge, hiding behind wild conspiracy theories and cheap playground insults instead of producing a real leader.

I waited patiently for a real economic plan or a viable political alternative, and yesterday at the ballot box, I finally got my answer. They did not have an economic plan, they did not have a capable leader, and they had absolutely no idea how to run a sovereign nation.

The rest of the province saw right through the bluster and handed them their final grade. Twenty four percent is an absolute failing grade in any classroom on the face of the earth. It is a total rejection of the amateur hour politics that have been holding the province of Alberta hostage, while desperately attempting to threaten the nation's sovereignty for way too long. Through democratic process, the majority of logical Albertans have deemed that horse? officially dead cowboy.

Think about the hilarious reality of what happens next through the lens of a failed divorce. The twenty four percent acted exactly like a toxic partner who threw a massive tantrum, dramatically packed their bags, and kicked the front door open. They stood on the porch and told the whole neighborhood they were leaving for good. But instead of begging them to stay, the rest of the house simply held a vote, shut the door, and locked the deadbolt. Now they are back, standing out in the cold in that same fur coat they strutted out the door with, still wearing no knickers underneath realizing they have nowhere else to go, and busted.

Now comes the incredibly awkward part of the morning after. They have to sheepishly walk back into the kitchen, unpack their bags, hang up the fur coat, stick on them old knickers and live under the exact same roof they just spent years trying to burn to the ground. They have to sit at the dinner table and play by the exact same rules they swore they would destroy. We are all going to have to smile over our morning coffee and pretend to be nice to each other for the sake of the kids. The tension is going to be thick, but the power dynamic in this house has permanently shifted.

The ultimate political consequence of this colossal failure is permanent and undeniable. The separatist movement has been completely stripped of its teeth and relegated to the dark corners of the basement. They have absolutely zero leverage left to threaten Ottawa or anyone else with. The bluff has been called, the cards are on the table, and they were holding a pair of twos the entire time. It is time to get back to the real work of building the province alongside the rest of the country and leaving the tantrums behind.

We can finally put this ridiculous American fantasy to bed and start focusing on the actual reality of our situation. If you still think the twenty four percent had a viable plan for this province, the floor is yours in the comments. But before you start typing, answer this one specific question for me.

Now that your threat to leave is completely off the table, what exact leverage do you think you have left to demand anything from the rest of Canada?
