Alright Toronto. Let’s get into the weeds on something that actually puts a win in your column. We are officially in Earth Week and the Toronto Parking Authority is doing something they rarely do.
They are giving it away for free. From right now until 11:59 p.m. this Friday, April 24, every single Green P EV charger in this city is set to zero dollars.

This isn't just a random act of kindness. We are seeing a massive shift in how the city moves. Under Prime Minister Mark Carney, the focus has shifted hard toward electrification. The stats don't lie. EV adoption in Toronto has surged 380 percent in the last six years. Whether you love it or hate it, the infrastructure is moving into our neighborhoods. Right now, 80 percent of Torontonians live within 5 km of a Green P charger. That means the "gas station" of the future is literally around the corner from your house.

The Hidden Gem: Keep an eye on Carpark 43 at 2 Church Street. They are launching the first "ultrafast" 100kW chargers this year. It is the gold standard of charging and it is part of the freebie week.

If you are thinking about making the switch, he is dangling a 5,000 dollar carrot in front of you for 2026. This free charging week is the "test drive" for the whole system. How To Get Your Freebie
Do not just pull up and expect a magic wand. You need to be ready.
The Apps: Make sure you have the Flo or ChargePoint apps downloaded and your account set up. Even though the price is zero, you still use the app to "start" the session.
The Backup: If the apps are acting up, you can use a credit card or an RFID card at the station. It will authorize for zero dollars.
The Prize: Green P is actually running a contest right now. If you take a photo of yourself charging up this week and send it in, you can win a full year of free charging. That is a 2,000 dollar value.
The Bottom Line
Toronto is expensive. Rent is high, groceries are a joke, and the 401 is a parking lot. When the city offers to fill your tank for free, you take it. Go get your share of the juice before the clock runs out on Friday night.
